I developed a passion for tutoring in undergrad, where I spent more than two years as a peer tutor in finance and accounting through my alma mater's tutoring center. After graduation (University of Puget Sound, BA in International Political Economy, summa cum laude), I worked in the investment banking and private equity industries in San Francisco and New York City. During this time I continued to work with students who were interested in similar careers to help them hone technical skills and prepare for interviews. My liberal arts background gives me expertise in a variety of subjects while my work experience gives me a deep mastery of finance and accounting technical concepts.
Some of the concepts I tutor in don't always come naturally to students, but I have substantial experience in relating the concepts covered to other subjects and ideas. I also ensure that students always understand the place of each concept in the "big picture". This allows my students to gain an understanding and appreciation for the subject and hopefully even become passionate about it as well.
