I am an alum of Duke University eager to help students reach their academic potential.

I have three years of experience tutoring: I was part of a math mentorship program for middle school students during my senior year of high school. During my freshman year of college, I tutored elementary school students in low-income neighborhoods through a program called Project CHILD. Since I finished my undergrad education, I have been tutoring high school students independently in algebra 2, pre-calculus and chemistry.

I always enjoyed my math and science classes because they featured the most objective learning. I think the key to understanding these subjects is to slow the pace, break down concepts, and do a myriad of practice problems that test every facet of what needs to be learned. I enjoy getting students to think more logically.

I am comfortable working with students of all ability levels, from those who are struggling to pass to students trying to make the jump from good to great.

Algebra 2

I have tutored algebra 2 independently for the last year and have been recommended to other students on multiple occasions.

American History

I took AP US History in high school and received a 5 on the AP test. I was a history major in college and took two courses on American history.

Calculus

I took AP Calculus BC in high school and received a 5 on the AP test. I followed that by taking multivariable calculus in college.

Chemistry

I took AP Chemistry in high school and got a 5 on the AP exam. I also took general chemistry in college and earned an A+ in the class.

European History

I have had a real fascination with European history ever since I took AP European History in high school and earned a 5 on the AP exam. I went to Europe twice and took multiple guided tours of historical locations, prompting my desire to major in history at Duke.

Geometry

I excelled in geometry in high school, and am comfortable applying the principles of geometry to higher levels of math.

Precalculus

I started tutoring pre-calculus for the 2012 academic year and have had great results with my students thus far.

Spanish

I took five years of Spanish culminating in my junior year of high school when I scored a 5 on the AP Spanish exam.

Statistics

I took AP Statistics in high school and earned a 5 on the AP exam. I also took a statistical inference course in college and earned an A.

I am familiar with descriptive statistics, probability, inferential statistics, as well as sampling and experimentation. I also am comfortable with Bayesian statistics.

SAT Math

I scored an 800 on the math section when I took the SAT. Math has always been my best subject and I know a lot of tricks to solve problems quickly and easily.

PSAT

I took the PSAT four times, starting in 8th grade, and I was a National Merit finalist after scoring a 231 my junior year. I am very familiar with the format and skills required for standardized testing.
