The ancient Greeks believed that astronomy was the study of the relationship between tangible, physical bodies, while music was the study of the relationship between intangible ones. Myself? I have studied both!
My name is Mitch. I have a B.S in Physics (Astrophysics) from the University of California, Santa Cruz. During my time there, I mastered various subjects in physics, astronomy and mathematics, and I am always looking to share that knowledge with others! I have previously worked one on one with other math/physics students who were able to improve their grades by leaps and bounds, and I have always been well reviewed. I believe in teaching a subject the way I would have wanted it to be taught to me when I was learning it. I can deliver on this approach as a recent graduate, as I am more closely familiar with the challenges students face when learning math and physics on high school and university levels. I believe in patience in teaching and tutoring; I want to see students reach the correct conclusions on their own, in order to bolster self confidence and renew interest in the subject matter!
I also spent four years as a member of a university a cappella group. I spent all four years as a section leader, having been selected in my very first year. I was also elected as the group's Director in my final year, and led the group to the International Championship of Collegiate a Cappella quarterfinals. I am also a recorded singer-songwriter and will soon be releasing my debut album. I am formally trained in singing and music theory, and can tutor in voice and songwriting. I intend to pass on the formal voice training I received, which can be applied to singers of any genre! I can teach you how to correctly use your vocal chords without breaks or strain, to allow you to sing over a much wider range of notes, more easily and accurately! For those who wish to improve in songwriting, I can give lessons in basic to more advanced music theory, and show you how to combine this knowledge with your personal taste and experience in music to create truly original songs and help you find your own niche!
My life ambitions are to become a successful musician, as well as a professor of physics and astronomy! I believe that helping others to learn can also enable to teacher to develop as his or her craft, and I am excited for that opportunity!
