Besides being available to tutor math, science and electrical engineering, I enjoy helping others improve their writing and speaking skills. Aptitude in writing and speaking helps students in any subject where papers or presentations are assigned.
I have coached writers for graduate-level Medieval History, Political Science, Environmental Science, and admissions essays. I not only proofread for grammar, but also for structure, logic, relevance, and persuasiveness.
I have been a science fair judge at the international level for Material Science and Bioengineering. The combination of science, engineering, logic, writing, and presentation skills made judging this event a memorable and rewarding experience for me.
Since earning my MS in Electrical Engineering, I have taken courses in European History, Musicology, and Italian Language. This year I'm taking a thirty-week course in the History of Spain. I've also played in a local symphony for ten years.
Currently I have a regular gig tutoring middle school math. In the past I have taught Grammar, Music (singing and violin), and History. I've even taught photography, but those lessons were freebies for friends. My current part-time work as an Engineer keeps me well-practiced in math and science.
I prefer working with middle school through graduate students. I motivate students by conveying the joy of having talents and knowledge. Students should not have a goal of pleasing their parents or merely getting a good grade. True success is when a skill is acquired so conceptually, so purposefully, and so completely that it is never forgotten. I strive for this success in every student.
