I'm a professional instructor in ESL, English Skills and Spanish. I've always enjoyed helping people to learn and tutoring has been a part of my life since high school when I began tutoring other kids in Spanish. As a college student, I tutored at UC Santa Barbara as a part time job in Spanish, English, writing skills and ESL working both for the UCSB Tutorial Center and also independently.
Because of my love of teaching, I became an instructor by profession and enjoyed teaching Spanish at UC Santa Barbara for almost 7 years and taught ESL to international students at UCSB Extension for 19 years. I currently teach at SBCC teaching writing and reading skills as well as ESL. I have lots of experience helping students prepare for tests like the TOEFL, write letters of application for universities and colleges, and improve their writing, grammar, and punctuation as well as conversation skills in both English and Spanish.
I've also been a pre-school teacher and was a coordinator for a non-profit after-school program and tutorial program for elementary aged children.
Language and learning for me is a lifetime pursuit and I have studied Spanish, French and even a little Portuguese and Italian. In my free time lately, I have been studying fine art photography for several years and I also enjoy taking online courses in biology and ecology.
I look forward to helping more people learn and succeed.
