I have eight years of teaching experience, 5 1/2 in the public schools and 2 1/2 years as an ESL teacher in Shanghai, China. I have many resources at my disposal and the knowledge that every child can succeed given the right tools.
•Curriculum Design and Development
•Student Centered Learning
Strategies I use:
•Use a variety of strategies to enhance the learning of at risk students: such as using students’ prior knowledge and personal experiences to introduce knew concepts, use SDAIE strategies, and ask open-ended questions to check for understanding.
•Create a well-organized environment and positive academic expectations, for I believe in the learner and their ability to achieve in an optimistic atmosphere.
•Use visuals, songs, and games to teach phonemic awareness, phonology, digraphs, diphthongs, multi syllable words, and strategies that good readers use to encourage the love of reading.
•Teach math skills by using manipulatives, books about math to help build a conceptual understanding of math skills through illustrations, and used realia as a source for generating and building problem solving skills.
•Design games that incorporate vocabulary and teach target language.
