Hi inquiring students/parents,

I am currently an undergraduate at UC Irvine majoring in Public Health Science. My strengths predominantly are within math and science. I volunteered for Kidworks for 6 months and worked with kids 1st through 6th grade. I assisted with their homework in math and science, and we used techniques such as computer math games, card games, math blast and other interactive visuals and writing. We also scheduled science lessons that involved teaching the initial concept and then peforming small lab experiments that reflect on the lesson. I am also a substitute for Think Together, an after school program.

I am dedicated and committed to my students in making sure that they really understand the basics and eventually learn to problem solve on their own. I expect great results, always.

Calculus

I received an A in calculus AB in high school, a 5 on the AP exam for calculus AB, and an A in calculus 2B at UC Irvine. I adjust my methods that I believe will be most effective for the student (quizzes, white board, note cards, etc).

Elementary Math

I tutored 1-6 grade students at Kidworks. We went over work in their workbooks and loose leaf paper. I find it really important that they learn to do the work themselves and problem solve rather than me giving them answers first. Depending on the area that needs most help, I can adjust the lesson plan to adhere to visual learners, auditory learners, kinesthetic learners, read-write learners, hands on learners, etc.

Elementary (K-6th)

I tutored grades 1-6 at Kidworks for 6 months. I tutored them in math and science. We worked through math problems with our fingers, worked on reasoning, played other math games and used physical objects to help teach. Science teaching was done through learning initial concepts and then applying those concepts to real life small experiments (ex: condensation, pressure).

Flute

I have played the flute for 9 years straight. I was in symphonic band, wind ensemble, marching band (4 years). I was section leader for 2 years at Los Osos High School.

Salsa Dancing

I have been salsa dancing for 4 years at UCI, and I've been on the salsa team for 3 years.
