Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

At the University of California, Berkeley, I created a special program for ADD students which we called Vista College which was meant for Freshman students with ADD and other related problems mostly in the inability to read or write English at the University level of a freshmen student at UCB. I spent three years on this project and became the Academic Dean of Vista College and used the data collected to do statistical analysis for my PhD at UC Berkeley's school of Education. I am willing to tutor this sort of student as I found that many of their issues can be dealt with and give them confidence to compete at the college level.

Archaeology

I spent several years at digs in Oaxaca, Mexico, Uxmal, Mexico and at Troy looking for the complete story of the Helen of Troy myth. In Uxmal we worked on classical Myan languages and art and religion as well as trying to determine what happened to the Myan culture in its diaspora. This is still under investigation. I spent one year at the University of Morelos in Cuernavaca, Mexico researching the influence of Oaxaca on the upper plains near Cuernavaca, Mexico. Today the story can be told in the foods that the true native uses for daily life. But there is much more to this story and adventure.

Art Theory

I have two years of study at La Sorbonne, University of Paris, in Art history and theory, which included architecture, painting and sculpture, furniture design with an emphasis on the 18th,19th century and 20th century School of Paris. I have attended some Beaux Arts lectures at Paris' main school of art.

Business

I was the CFO and CIO of an advanced engineering firm in La Jolla. My principle activities were capital financing, marketing and creating patents for our clients. I also created a business which marketed patents in blast mitigation to world wide companies. I financed and marketed our patents mainly to Korea and Indonesian engineering firms, SuADI ARABIA, London and Japan. My work consisted of selling and leasing patents and building a patent defense for our companies and to build friendly relations with competing companies around the world.

Classics

I was the assistant to John E. Zimmerman who published the Dictionary of Classical Mythology. Under Prof John E Zimmerman at Arizona State University I studied Latin and olde French and published several papers on "Les metiers au Moyen Age." As a fact checker for Prof Zimmerman, I spent a great deal of time studying preclassical greek Sculpture, especially those sculptures related to the myth of Helen of Troy. Spent time at the sites in Turkey and Asia.

Drawing

I attended the HS of Art and Design in New York City. I became an Art and Painting major in College at NYU and Arizona State. I graduated and went to Paris to study painting, art history and furniture design.

At present I specialize as an art dealer in Surrealistic art and L'ecole de Paris, early and mid 20th century art movements in Paris and NYC. I myself have had many showings and have won awards for my drawings and paintings. I have met many European artists.

Public Speaking

I was university director of a High School public speaking competition at Arizona State University.
