I taught elementary grade mathematics for 22 years for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, so mathematics is easy for me!
I taught English as a Second language for 18 years for students K to 12th grade in a major Southern California school district. I have a Bilingual Certificate of Competence in Spanish from the State if California which is earned through examination both in written and verbal assessments in both English and Spanish. I prefer to use as much immersion and total physical response as possible to emphasize grammar and vocabulary.
Grammar is essential to accurate and precise communication. It also clues persons in to your level of education and the quality of image you present to the general public, perhaps moreso than the clothing covering your body. Improper grammar may be an obstacle to advancement in employment and school achievement. If you wish to present the optimal aspects of your learning and prospects, why not give me a chance to help you with grammar use?
Elementary phonics for reading grades K-3. I taught phonemic awareness both in English and Spanish. I emphasized the basic rules that associate letter to sound. I give exercises in sounding graphemes and morphemes and exercises in combining them to form words. I teach exceptions to the general rules of phonics.I can do task error analysis to pinpoint where students have trouble with word decoding and how to understand reading problems as an aphasia or dyslexia.
Concepts and skills acquired in prealgebra are vital and a gateway to taking on courses including algebra, calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, accounting, and economics successfully. Hence, in tutoring prealgebra, I concentrate on a limited set of concepts and skills and not rushing to cover everything in the textbook until the student has mastered these. Please read my qualifications and drop me a line if you think I can be of service to you.
I have extensive experience in clinical psychology. I have a PhD in clinical psychology and two master's degrees in psychology. If you need academic tutoring or some help with your dissertation, I can be of service to you. Please drop me a line with your particulars.
More than 22 years as an educator, I have taught general and special education elementary school students. I am bilingual and very patient. Please remember that reading involves many skills though interconnected, they are not the same. As such, when ordering my tutorial services, understand that each skill requires specific tasks and practice. For example, if I teach your child to decode do not automatically expect reading comprehension to go up as a result (it may). That is because both require different approaches and skills acquisition. If I can be of service to your reading needs, please drop me a line. I have an extensive special education background and know how to gauge expectations and make sensible achievable reading goals.

I am an experienced writer with three master's degrees and a defended dissertation to my credit. I was an educator for thirty years and have a substantial store of writing experience. Writing is a very useful skill that will open many doors now and in the future for your student (choice of college or university, obtaining employment). The key is helping the student organize his/her ideas and setting them down in a format that commands the reader's interest, is persuasive and logical, and flows. If I can be of service, please drop me a line.
