My experience tutoring includes reading education for an entire class of underprivileged first graders and creating a high school preparation program for an entire middle school. I am a graduate with a Master of Public Policy with emphases in Economics, Environmental Policy, and State and Local Policy. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Beyond the degree areas I have experience in, I am knowledgeable in many other subjects including French, science, literature, history and English. Further, some of my favorite subjects to tutor in are math (including Algebra, Geometry and Pre-calculus), writing, and test preparation. Throughout my education I have learned study habits that lead to great grades and test scores from AP classes and SAT tests in high school to Honors classes and GRE tests in college. I recognize that students learn differently including through auditory, visual, and kinesthetic styles or a combination of the techniques. I am passionate about working with students, and parents if necessary, to create individualized lesson plans to produce the best progress possible!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I have learned great study skills through my experience with the Honors Program during high school, college and graduate school. Specific tests include AP tests, SAT main and subject tests, and the GRE. I also have prepared other students successfully for college and high school tests, the SAT, and the GRE.
