I love working with students, I use a lot of hands on activities. I have a master's in reading and special education. I have over 14 years of teaching experience working with special need students. When working on basic math skills, I use a lot reinforcing activities to support addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division to build mental math skills in K-8th. I use a lot of cards, dice, dominoes, and other items. When working in reading I am trained in Sue Barton, Read 180, and SWR. I work with them in building reading comprehension, phonics, listening, vocabulary, grammar and fluency. I love assisting students with their homework needs and to assist them in organization.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am a credentialed teacher in special education, I work with a variety of students who have learning issues that deal with ADD/ADHD. I have assisted them in the classroom. When working with students who have special needs, I use a variety of teaching strategies that include hands on activities, breaking down problems, and modifying assignments when needed. For the past 14 years, I have been working with special needs students in the middle school environment.

Autism

I am a credentialed teacher in multiple subjects and special education. My special education credential has an authorization to work with students who are on the Autism spectrum. I have been working for the past 14 years as a middle school teacher in the RSP setting in which I supported students in the areas of math, language, science and social studies. I also ran a social class, where students took turns talking, role playing and playing games.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified teacher for grades K -8. I have a credential in multiple subjects, and special education. I have Master's in reading and special education. I am have been teaching for the past 14 years in a local school district.

Phonics

I am certified in SWR, Read 180, lexicon, and have a Master's in reading comprehension. I work with students who struggle with reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary.

Social Studies

I have a degree in management with a concentration in history. I have taught social studies to sixth, seventh and eighth graders. My favorite subject in school was history, and I love learning about cultures in the world.

Special Needs

I have been working with students with special needs for over 15 years. I have implemented the IEP process, and helped them achieve their goals. I have Level II M/M credential. I have worked in special education classrooms for over 14 years. I use a lot of hands on activities to assist the student.
