I have experience as a tutor of English, piano/voice, psychology, and religious studies. I have worked with individuals in private tutoring and taught in classroom settings. I speak Thai and can teach beginner Thai! I studied Spanish for two years in college so I can speak and read at an elementary level.

I enjoy working with people of all ages but have special expertise in working with those who are young adult and adult learners. I have experience as a teacher in the USA and, having lived in Thailand for four years, in an overseas setting. Because I have traveled to many countries, I appreciate the culture, language, education and religious traditions of people from around the world. I believe this makes me a "better" tutor of the subjects I like to teach.

As a tutor, it is important for me to listen and understand the strengths and weaknesses identified by students and help them attain their stated goals for competency.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have a Masters of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree from accredited institutions. I am an ordained Protestant minister and serve a local church in the area.

Clarinet

I began playing clarinet when I was in 5th grade. I played through my middle school and high school years. In high school, I was selected to go to the state music festivals to play in the all state bands. I played clarinet in the marching band in high school and was selected to be the drum major during my junior and senior years. I played clarinet in the Mississippi College marching band and concert band for two years.

Piano

I have taken piano for 12 years; I was a Music minor in college and studied piano and voice at an advanced level. I enjoy teaching beginner lessons!

Public Speaking

I have a professional position as a public speaker in a religious setting. I can coach, encourage and give lessons in public speaking.

Religion

I have a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree from accredited theological schools. I come from a progressive Christian perspective and enjoy studying and teaching world religions.

TOEFL

I taught TOEFL in Miami, Florida, at the Community College and I taught ESL in Bangkok, Thailand at Thammasat University. I have taught individuals and small groups. I enjoy teaching TOEFL and look for opportunity to continue to help students, especially those who are speakers of other languages.

Voice (Music)

I was a music minor at Mississippi College where I received my B.A. in 1974, focusing on voice and piano. I started by voice training while in high school and sang in the school choirs as well as the church choirs throughout my high school and college years. After college, I taught piano and voice at a private school in Jacksonville, FL. Presently, I teach (part-time) private piano lessons and voice lessons to selected students.

She's the best! — Ann is open, communicative, and knowledgeable. She patiently explained music theory while also helping me to find my range, my notes, some confidence, so much more. I'm learning quickly because she learned quickly what I needed and knows how to get me there. Don't miss an opportunity to learn from her! ...
