Thank you for your interest! I've worked with students from all over the world in learning to speak and write in English fluently. Most recently, I was an adjunct faculty member at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago teaching international students how to write about art in English. From 2008 to 2010 I worked in Samcheok, Gangwon-do, South Korea teaching English at an Elementary school. I now live in California to pursue a PhD but make frequent trips back to East Asia for my research.

I am laid back but goal driven. I expect students to be punctual and prepared to learn. The time I've spent tutoring in the past has been rich with friendly and compassionate conversation, inquisitive thinking, and rigorous learning.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions! I look forward to meeting you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Art History

I have a master's degree in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in Art History from Indiana University.

ESL/ESOL

From 2012 to 2014 I taught in the English for International Students program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and from 2008 to 2010 I taught ESL at an elementary school in South Korea. Along with my teaching, I've tutored many graduate students in various subjects including writing, editing, and public speaking.

Grammar

From 2012 to 2014 I taught in the English for International Students program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and from 2008 to 2010 I taught ESL at an elementary school in South Korea. Both teaching positions required grammar lessons. In addition, I've edited multiple master theses.
