A little about me:

My name is Doug H. and I am a twenty-four-year-old Liberal Studies and English Major currently attending San Francisco State University. I spent the previous five years in the military where I worked as a apart of the Educational Services Provider on my ship where I conducted ACT, SAT, ASVAB, and CLEP exam tutoring, practice and training. I'm originally from Florida and have been in the area for roughly two years now.

I'm a diverse tutor that can handle a wide range of subjects. My major is interdisciplinary in nature which gives me the unique advantage to teach English, Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics not only individually but as they subtlety interweave in and out of each other.

More importantly however is my ability to empathize with students. I was once a student who struggled and suffered from Attention Deficit Disorder. This background combined with my educational training allows me to find weaknesses and build lesson plans that not only teach the subject matter but the reason why the student fell behind and how to get them ahead.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have taken classes in Child Development, Physical Education for k-6, Music for Elementary School Teachers. I have also taken Mathematics for teaching K-6 as well as a course designed to give tools to help teach children in all subjects.

As we all know Winter Break is a time for students and parents alike to take their minds off of school and get into the season of giving. This is an awesome way to recharge your batteries and get back the energy you'll need to excel through the rest of the year!
