I was born and raised in Chinatown, San Francisco. An avid surfer, I created the first animated surf film
"Eternal Sea “in 1969. Inspired to learn the finer art
of animation, I moved to Hollywood in 1974 and apprenticed under experienced animators: 1) John Freeman -Disney layout artist and animator- (Lady & The Tramp), 2) Corny Cole -Warner Brothers, (Looney Tunes animator), 3) Duane Crowther (apprentice of Grim Natwick) and UPA key animator on “Chief the Blue Meanies” sequence in the Yellow Submarine movie.
I started my own company in 1978, where I produced and directed animated TV commercials. I won an Emmy for my animated short film "Bean Sprouts" in 1980, a Clio for "Sunkist Orange", best animated television commercial in 1986. I animated "Tarna" in the original animated feature "Heavy Metal", supervised special effects mattes on the original "Tron" 1981. I served as the animation director for Universal Theme Park Ride "T2/3D". I was also the animation director on "Catdog" & "Dora, the Explorer" for Nickelodeon Cartoons.
Most recently, I directed of "Tales of the Maya
Skies"; a full dome 3D animated film for Chabot Space & Science
Center in Oakland. I also teach animation, concept & design, advanced storyboarding, visual storytelling, and life drawing
at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and Expression College of Digital Media in Emeryville, CA.
Drawing and Animation has been my life career and my passion, and I am dedicated to pass on this amazing art form to anyone who ever dreamed of being an animator. If you want to learn and become a 4th generation apprentice of Grim Natwick (Designed Betty Boop and animator on Snow White), contact me.
