If you select this option, WyzAnt will ask interested tutors to contact you by email if they are able to help. A maximum of five different tutors will email you and none of your personal information, including your email address, will be released.

I have got two degrees: B.Sc. (Hons) from Huddersfield University (UK) and M.Sc., (ENG) from Hong Kong University both in engineering.

The areas that I am able to teach and help students to learn are mathematics and Chinese.

My experience from a long education career enables me to better understand students, envisage their difficulties and help them where they need help. I am quite confident that I am able to guide them to understand what they don't understand in class and enable them to master maths and/or Chinese more effectively and independently. I will make good use of private tutoring sessions to help the students with different teaching approaches and supplemented materials.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Do you need help to learn numbers, equations, graphs, factorization, and solve word problems etc? I would love to help you to understand the keys to the problems and ways to find the solutions.

Algebra 2

Do you have difficulty in solving problems in Algebra 2? I can help you to find ways to solve problems in polynomials, roots and zeros, graphs, algorithms, trigonometry, geometry, complex numbers, matrices and determinants, and word problems.

Chinese

I can help you to master Mandarin or Putonghua by guiding you how to read, write, speak, listen, pronounce (pinyin) and complete Chinese assignments. I am familiar with both traditional and simplified Chinese.

Electrical Engineering

I have two degrees in Electrical Engineering: B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Sc.(Eng). I am also the Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. I was a lecturer in the Engineering Department of Vocational Education Institute.

Elementary Math

I am tutoring a 6th grader in elementary math and she is a honour student in Alice Fong Yu Alternative School. The topics covered include: Numbers, Fractions, Algebra, Equations and Functions, Probability, Geometry, Statistics, Ratios, and Measurements. The experience helps me to understand what are the difficulties in learning this subject and how to help the students to move forward.

Geometry

In my professional career, I relied on geometry to help my job in finding optimal cutting from a piece of raw material. In order to be good at geometry one needs to be familiar with orientation, lines, figures, shapes, rotation, reflection, transforms and graphical method. Therefore the key to teaching geometry is to be able to use more illustrative examples to let students "see" what is happening or the problem of a question.

Trigonometry

In my professional career, I used trigonometry techniques to help me measure lines, angles and estimate the direction of forces etc. I am able to help students to understand Trigonometry and solve problems involving angles, lengths, sin, cos, tan, cot, sec, cosec, double and half angles, compound angles, products and sums, vectors and word problems.
