Hi! I'm Shervin, your potential tutor! Nice to meet you!

Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I was born in Rhode Island. I live in San Francisco. I've traveled to most states in between and many countries outside. Those that know me best would say that I am in love with learning - more on that later. I'm a graduate student working towards a Masters in Physics, aiming to research theoretical physics on a doctoral level. When I'm not knee-deep in textbooks, you'll find me cycling, rock-climbing, playing guitar, wiring up electronics, studying chess, and planning my next adventure.

Why do I tutor?

Well, I love learning! There is a lot to enjoy about this world, and for me, a lot of that enjoyment comes from our human curiosity. We all learn to speak languages, play sports, enjoy music, study worldly phenomena, explore cultures, and - yes - to teach! In my years as a tutor and teacher, I've found it absolutely nourishing to work with students and to play a role in expanding their frontiers.

I'm passionate about what I do, and I try to convey this spirit when working with students. It's tough to get excited about the SAT - I know! Or perhaps that essay on East of Eden just isn't your cup of hot chocolate - I understand. The goal of tutoring is to first get you excited and next get you working.

My role is that of a coach and a team mate. I strive to keep it down to earth while providing a structured framework for success.

Thank you for taking the time to visit. Keep on exploring my WyzAnt profile to find out more. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to get started on your first tutoring session.

Let me describe my tutoring experience.

I started tutoring independently in 2013 and have worked with many happy students and families ever since. As a private tutor, hired teacher, graduate student, and small business owner, I pride myself on my dedication to education. The following is a sample of my teaching experience.

Starting in 2010, I worked with Revolution Prep, a big name test prep company, for three years, tutoring students primarily in the SF Bay area. I taught in both classroom settings and in private tutoring sessions, arming students against the SAT, ACT, SAT2, and AP exams, as well preparing them for their high school courses. I worked both in-person and online.

While I now independently tutor, I also work for several groups around the city. My work at these centers consists of SAT tutoring in math, reading, and writing, alongside specific subject tutoring for individual students.

This Fall, I will be working at a renown French American school in San Francisco as a part-time math teacher and SAT class instructor.

Finally, please let me describe my education.

I am currently enrolled in graduate school as a Masters of Physics student with a 4.0 GPA. For my undergrad, I attended University of Rhode Island, triple majored and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.56 GPA. I hold the following degrees: B.S. Supply Chain & Logistical Management; B.S. Entrepreneurial Management; B.A. Psychology. I also earned a Professional Certificate in Computing Systems from UC Berkeley with a 4.0 GPA.
