Jim is a wonderful Chemistry tutor. He is patient, very intelligent, relaxed and easy to work with, and he can even crack a good joke. He tutored me in basic Chemistry and is moving on with me to an upper level class. Now that we have been working together, I couldn't imagine getting through next semester without him! His schedule is flexible around mine and he is alway very reliable with our appointments. He helped me get over failing my first test and I ended up with a B in the hardest class of my college career. Not only does he help you figure out which basic concepts you may need to brush up on to move forward, but he also helps make study guides, explains how chemistry relates to the real world, and has multiple ways to teach you the topics based around how you specifically learn. I've referred one friend already and would absolutely recommend his tutoring to anyone, especially those that are feeling very lost when it comes to math and science. Jim L. is a Chemistry Master!
"Great tutor! "

Jim was wonderful, warm, and understanding in helping me to study for the GRE. I have terrible test anxiety and so the thought of taking the test scared me. Jim met with me for months, coming whenever I needed him and communicating well throughout the process. He gave me homework to work on, and slowly I watched my practice test scores improve throughout the process. I would absolutely recommend Jim to everyone and anyone looking to do well on a standardized test. He is full of information and knowledge and now I got the opportunity to interview at two doctoral programs for psychology this past weekend! I did well and surpassed my own expectations. Go with Jim!

Mr. L has tutored my son in Chemistry last year, and Physics this year. Beyond being well versed in both subjects, he showed him real life applications to scientific principals. This kept him interested in the class material, and got him thinking about jobs in the engineering field he may want to pursue. When they covered the energy unit in chem, Mr. L showed him how to derive the energy released in a nuclear explosion. Way to spark a teenage boy's curiosity and interest in science!
"Professional & patient"

Jim helped my kids review algebra material over the summer in order to be ready to return to school. He was very helpful and they enjoyed working with him.

Jim was very knowledgeable and very patient with our son going over prealgebra this summer. His seasoned help ensured that our son was ready for the next level of math starting in September. Thank you Jim!
"Finally an A!"
- Jasmin, Daly City, CA on 11/7/14
Since Mr. L worked with my son with his Algebra lessons, he got his first A in Algebra. I'm so glad I called WyzAnt.
"Right information, right style"

My son reported that his session went well with Jim L and he wants to continue with a next session.
"Very Knowledgeable - Great Tutor!"
- Joshua, San Francisco, CA on 9/2/14
Jim was an awesome tutor! I was studying electrical engineering on my own (and with Jim) to be better prepared to design medical devices. Jim was great at taking concepts presented in the book and relating them to real life.
"Great at explaining things "
- Cynthia, San Francisco, CA on 3/6/14
I've been working with Jim for about three weeks now, getting help with second semester college chemistry and he's been really helpful. He's great at explaining things to me and approaching the same question in different ways until I really understand it.
My class just finished talking about thermochemistry and when I met with him today, I was able to do a lot of the questions on my own - a testament to him doing his job well. A couple of weeks ago, I had no idea where to start with most of the questions. Sometimes he mixes things up a little bit, but upon asking more questions and connecting the dots on my own, we almost always end up at the correct answer.
We're moving on to electrochemistry in lecture next week, and he said that he remembers electrochemistry better than thermochemistry. I hope he's right, because I don't understand any of it at this point, despite having learned it a year ago. He's been available every time I've scheduled a session, even when I ask if he's available only a couple of days in advance, and has been able to easily reschedule when I accidentally overbook a particular part of my day.
"A great tutor."
- Kaitlin, Mill Valley, CA on 1/6/14
I was a "C" student in Chemistry. I am now a solid "B" thanks to Jim's patience and persistence. Jim also is respectful, listens to my questions, and is easy to work with.
"Very good tutor."
- Mary, San Francisco, CA on 10/9/13
Jim carefully goes through my daughter's lessons, works with her on the homework, and simplifies the concepts so she "gets" it. Transformed her from a C to an A. My daughter is really enjoying her class and has the confidence/comfort with Algebra 2. Excellent tutor! Thanks Jim.
- Elias, Daly City, CA on 8/10/13
Jim is an excellent tutor. My daughter said he explained things very clearly and made calculus understandable. I highly recommend him for all your tutoring needs.

Jim was an excellent Algebra tutor for my son. His test scores doubled in 4 weeks of tutoring with Jim.
In addition, Jim was very reliable and flexible.
"Professional, Very Knowledgeable, Approachable."
- R., Belmont, CA on 5/28/13
Jim L. has the rare combination of knowledge and approachability. I think he also teaches at the University. He drove all the way from San Francisco to tutor my son for both Physics and Calculus. Jim is also good with reviewing material taken in class. He has a calming presence, and he is a great, great find. I would not be surprised if he will be fully booked this coming school year!
- Karl, San Francisco, CA on 4/15/13
Good job Jim. Your knowledge base in math and physics could land you in a lab! I know you would rather be tutoring us though!
- Janet, Brisbane, CA on 2/20/13
My grandson is much more confident in his ability to learn and perform math skills thanks to Jim. He is excited about having Jim as a tutor and actually looks forward to the sessions. We couldn't be more pleased.
"Patient, knowledgeable tutor!"
- Lynn, San Carlos, CA on 1/31/13
Jim was easy to get a hold of and very flexible with his schedule. He helped me to understand the concepts of Algebra start to finish.
He has great patience and I will most certainly contact him throughout the duration of my class for continued help! Thanks Jim.
- Cathy, San Francisco, CA on 1/8/13
Jim is an excellent tutor. He has been tutoring my daughter in Physics and SAT math. Her Physics scores have improved. Recently Jim worked with my daughter on physics problems and concepts for a quiz the following day. She left that quiz feeling she did well and she did. Other classmates said it was really hard and had a difficult time. Jim identifies problem areas quickly, he has various methods to assist with learning and is patient. He truly understands physics, math and teaching skills. Very personable and professional. I highly recommend him.
- Karen, Tustin, CA on 12/7/12
My son is enjoying Math again thanks to Jim. During their sessions, Jim makes algebra seem easy and explains the concepts in a way that make sense. We are very happy with the results!!
"The best tutor for PHYSICS!!!"
- Alejandro, San Francisco, CA on 11/19/12
Jim is one of the best tutors I’ve had so far that really help me understand physics in a more conceptual level. I had a midterm that I really needed to do good in. And Jim helped me achieve that by teaching me physics concepts in a way that I could really understand. When I got my midterm back I was really surprised that I did better than what I've had expected and as well did better than the majority of my class mates. If you’re looking for a physics tutor I would highly recommend Jim as one of your choices because he really understands the language of physics!!!
- Elizabeth, San Francisco, CA on 9/8/12
Wow - Just one tutoring session so far and my son already feels more comfortable with pre-cal!
Thank you so much Jim.
