Hello! I have been a professional tutor since 2003, specializing in math (pre-algebra through AP calculus), AP statistics, and standardized test preparation. I am very effective in helping students to not just get a better grade, but to really understand the subject matter and the reasons why things work the way they do. I do this in a way that is positive, supportive, and also fun. I explain difficult math and science concepts in simple English, and continue working with the students until they understand the concepts really well. All my students enjoy improvements in their grades, as well as reduction in their overall stress level.

I was an instructor at some of the top test prep companies, so among my specialties is preparation for standardized tests like SAT, ACT, SSAT, and many others. I am very effective in helping students improve their test scores: in a past testing year all of my SAT students scored 700 and above! Some of them were scoring in mid-500, when I started working with them.

I bring my full attention and dedication to the students that I work with. Since every person is unique, I personalize my approach to each student. This makes my work very effective and allows each student to truly improve! I have helped hundreds of students, both one on one and in a classroom setting, and many of them provide excellent references and referrals for me.

Please get in touch with me – I will be very happy to help you succeed.

SAT Math

I prepare students for the following SAT tests: SAT RT Math (the “big” SAT) and SAT Subject Math Level 2. I began tutoring for these tests as an instructor for a couple of premier Test Prep companies. In the 10+ years since then, I honed my skills and knowledge by helping hundreds of students one-on-one. I can help students improve their test scores whether they are quite new to the test, already had a lot of prep, or somewhere in between. In addition to doing test-specific work with my students, like timing strategies, multiple choice based strategies, effective use of the calculator, and working efficiently on each problem, I work with them on the math topics that require remediation.

Statistics

I tutor AP Statistics and college level introductory statistics courses. Many students, who are new to statistics, think of it as “pure math” type of a subject; however there is a lot of real world application in statistics, and not just math. I teach my students both the mathematical concepts of statistics/probability and how to deal with word problems: recognize the appropriate statistical setting described in the scenario and apply the correct method to solve the problem. The positive reviews left by many of my statistics students attest to my effectiveness in helping them with statistics.

Fantastic math tutor! Life (grade) saver! — I came to find Vladimir on WyzAnt, in April 2013. I am a Junior at University of San Francisco, and enrolled in a college statistics course. I have several learning differences, one of them being dyslexia, which in my case only applies to numbers. It is extremely hard, if not impossible for me to comprehend even simple mathematical arithmetic. Over the years of struggle with math, tutors have give ...
