¡Hola! Hello! My name is Alina and I love teaching Spanish and helping students to improve their Spanish skills.

For the last 18 years I have been teaching Spanish in Brazil, USA, and Spain. I have worked with students attending Middle School, Upper School, College, and also with adult students from different companies (BP, Electrolux, Milliman...)

I can help students with their Spanish class, a trip to a Spanish speaking country, a technique translation or, even, preparing them for a standardized tests like AP Spanish Language & Culture, IB Spanish, DELE, NSE (National Spanish Exam). In my classes I always find new ideas to teach grammar and vocabulary. I use different videos and podcasts to improve listening and speaking skills, and to teach my culture.

I am used to the American textbooks used in high school or college, but I also have plenty of materials, and books coming from Spain. These textbooks have a more communicative approach, and my students generally enjoy them.

I have created my own blog where my students can find information about different events related with the Spanish language and culture, recipes, Spanish exhibitions, grammatical and cultural notes, Spanish jokes... In addition, they can leave their opinions, communicate with other students or with myself... everything using the target language (Spanish).

I just moved from Madrid, Spain, where I worked for a Learning & Development Corporation as Head of the Spanish Department. My responsibilities included among others training executives, professionals, and college students in Spanish as a Second Language, Business Spanish as well as cross-cultural coaching.

Thank you for having taken the time to read my profile. I would like to have you or your kid as student.

I look forward to hearing from you soon! ¡Hasta pronto!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Spanish

I hold a Master Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language, as well as a Teacher Education Certificate, required to teach in Spain. As a result of many years of teaching experience, I have developed excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and time management skills. I also prepare students for specific Spanish test as: AP Spanish, IB Spanish or DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language), official accreditation of the degree of fluency of the Spanish Language, issued and recognized by the Ministry of Education of Spain.
