I love learning! The feeling of confidence one gets from learning a new skill is incredible. Unfortunately, some students never feel that success in school. Learning becomes a chore rather than an exciting activity. Learning doesn't need to feel like this for them. I believe every student has the ability to learn. It is the responsibility of the teacher to determine the best way to reach her students.

I am an Education Specialist with experience teaching Special Education for students with learning disabilities for six years. From first hand experience, I discovered that engaging each student in lessons designed to his/her individual interest was the key to his/her success.

I facilitated opportunities and activities which encouraged the students to explore topics important and/or relevant to them. For example, if it was a reading lesson, I gathered reading materials that were of interest to that particular student. If it was a math lesson, I applied math to a hobby or special interest. This encouraged the students to want to learn. It gave the lesson meaning and the personal interest motivated the student to attempt tasks previously considered too difficult.

I love the one-on-one teaching approach that I get with tutoring. While I specialize in helping struggling learners, I also have experience working with students in the K-6 curriculum.

I try to be flexible with my time, but I do have an 8 hour cancellation policy. If circumstances require a cancellation, I'll do my best to reschedule at a time that is more convenient for you.

I look forward to helping your child build confidence and a feeling of success in his/her educational experience.
