I am a recent college graduate from Claremont McKenna College, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology. While there, I played four years as an outfielder for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team. I am currently applying to veterinary school for next year with the intent of specializing in either wildlife or marine medicine.
I first began tutoring my sophomore year for the W.M. Keck Science Department at the Claremont Colleges. I tutored there for five months during the spring semester, and assisted students taking General Principles of Chemistry with problem sets, lab write-ups, and preparing for exams. Tutoring was done in groups, and there were nights where there were more than 30 students in the room at a time. The method I developed was to assist students who needed help understanding a problem, and if I found that more than one student was having issues with a certain problem, I would then demonstrate the problem on the board so that they could all follow along and understand the concepts.
After returning from summer break, I became a tutor under the Scripps College Dean of Students Office, where I was employed from the beginning of junior year until my graduation this last May. I tutored students one-on-one in Introductory Biology, General Principles of Chemistry, Genetics, and Introductory Italian. I helped students finish problem sets, review and correct lab write-ups, review lecture notes, prepare for exams and quizzes, and expand Italian vocabulary and fluency. I developed a slightly different method while tutoring one-on-one, because most students requesting a tutor already knew exactly what area they needed help with. I would answer their questions, and if I found a particular concept they were having trouble with, we would find problems that tested that concept, and go through it together until they were able to complete the problem on their own and explain the concept back to me.
Having just graduated from undergraduate school and recently gone through the application process again for veterinary school, I understand the application process for colleges, and can help find ways to strengthen the application and essays. Since I am a four year athlete, I understand the college recruiting process for athletes, and can help you understand that process. I enjoy tutoring and seeing others understand concepts they previously did not get, and cannot wait to help you.
I graduated in May 2013 from Claremont McKenna College with a degree in Biology. I have two and a half years of tutoring experience in college level chemistry as well as two years tutoring college level biology for both the W.M Keck Science Department and Scripps College Dean of Students Office. I took the ACT in order to apply for undergraduate school, so I am familiar with the testing format, as well as having recently taken the GRE for graduate school.
I am a Biology major from Claremont McKenna College with upper division coursework in Comparative Physiology, Animal Behavior, Vertebrate Anatomy, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Sensory Evolution, and Tropical Marine Biology. I also completed a yearlong thesis looking at the behaviors of black phoebes in response to house finches. I have two years of experience tutoring Introductory Biology, and a year of tutoring Genetics through Scripps College Dean of Students Office.
I have taken two semesters of General Principles of Chemistry, two semesters of Organic Chemistry, and one semester of Biochemistry when I attended Claremont McKenna College as a Biology major. I tutored General Principles of Chemistry for five months at the W.M. Keck Science Department, and another year tutoring General Principles of Chemistry for Scripps College Dean of Students Office.

I have played softball for 16 years, and recently graduated from Claremont McKenna College, where I played as a four year outfielder for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. I have assisted in coaching my younger sister in the past, and am able to teach hitting, fielding, and throwing.
Great Mastery of Field — My daughter needed help as she was falling behind in high school chemistry.
