I am currently a graduate student completing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at AIU-CSPP in San Diego. I have extensive experience with at-risk, special needs and learning challenged individuals. I have worked in a variety of settings including crisis facilities and shelters with both children and adults. I understand the challenges that families confront in working with children that have learning and behavioral difficulties. Structure and patience are key skills that I bring to help build the child's self esteem, and the parent's confidence. I believe providing the needed support can foster lasting change that breeds success, academic and otherwise. I believe this can also be applied to adults, as we all need support and guidance during challenging times in our journey. I am currently teaching parenting education to those mandated to complete a course or for those who simply want to learn a new way.
I have my Master's in Clinical Psychology and have completed all my course work which includes: child/adol. abnormal psychology, adult abnormal psychology, testing and measures, family therapy, DSM diagnosis, cultural comp., and law/ethics. As part of my degree I have also completed a practicum and several internships. I am currently completing my qualitative dissertation on the experience of Latino mothers parenting a child with ADHD.
If you feel I would be a good fit to work with either yourself or your child, feel free to contact me with further questions.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am currently conducting a dissertation with the subject of ADHD in children. I have worked at a variety of clinics and schools helping children with a diagnosis and diagnosing children with ADHD. I also have the tools to aid parents to further help their children with ADHD challenges in the social and relational arenas.

Special Needs

I have a Masters Degree in Psychology which includes training in various Special Needs populations. I have worked with children and adults with Special Needs to aid in their social skills and emotional regulation to further both academic and familial relationships. I am qualified to read and interpret testing results from the medical community including psychologist, psychiatrist and neurologist. I have been trained in behavioral modification techniques to help mold and change maladaptive behaviors.

Study Skills

I have worked with special needs and learning challenged children for over 10 years. I have gathered over the years a variety of methods and techniques to overcome the obstacles of LD students. Motivation and support are some of the vital components to becoming a well rounded student and I believe are skills that can be taught and learned. I believe my clinical training in psychology helps me to see the whole person and address issues of learning while taking into account other important factors.
