I have been credentialed in California since 2000 and have tutored students privately in San Diego County for 8 years. I specialize in supporting English language learners, having worked with students from Mexico, Japan, Korea, China, Bulgaria, and the Middle East.

I also have additional coursework for the Special Ed credential and have daily experience working with special needs students, including impairments such as ADD, Learning Disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I will tutor in your home or at a public library. An adult over 18 years old must be available and I do not transport students in my car. I provide learning materials or will work with materials that you child's classroom teacher may provide. I look forward to being a part of your student's team!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism

I am a certificated teacher who works as an instructional assistant in an autism spectrum disorder program and am very experienced with working with autistic students.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a multiple subject credential and am proficient at teaching and tutoring all subjects, including but not limited to language, math, social studies, science, oral presentations, and especially the basic foundations of language, such as phonics.

Elementary Math

I have a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and work as an Instructional Assistant in Special Ed in a public elementary school. I have tutored students in 6 San Diego County school districts for a total of 8 years. I mostly tutor students at the elementary school level or upper grade students whose skills or needs are at the elementary school level.

English

I have a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and work in a local elementary school as an Instructional Assistant in a special ed classroom. I have tutored for approximately 8 years to students who are mostly at the elementary school level or upper grade students who are reading or have language arts skills and needs at the elementary school level, with an emphasis on English Language learners.

ESL/ESOL

I have my CLAD certificate with my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and my Masters of Education is in Crosscultural Teaching. Consequently, I specialize in supporting English Language Learners and have had great success with helping children and adults from all over the world.

Phonics

I am very experienced at supporting students in phonics as I am proficient at teaching phonics to primary grades and English language learners in higher grades that I have tutored privately for about 8 years. I use a sign-sound chart, fluency selections like read naturally, as well as programs like signs for sounds, explode the code, and activities that I create as needed.

Reading

I have been a private tutor for about 8 years and a teacher since 2000 and have the greatest success with early intervention, especially in the area of phonics. I work in a school in your area and am a reading/phonics coach every day after school. I would welcome the opportunity to know more about your child's needs and to answer any of your questions.

Special Needs

I have a multiple subject credential plus all coursework towards the special ED credential. I work as an instructional assistant in an autism spectrum disorder program and have significant classroom experience as a previous substitute teacher in special ed classes in 3 san Diego county school districts.
