As a Liberal Arts major at the University Of Illinois at Urbana, I received an extremely well-rounded education. The benefits of a liberal arts degree is that you are required to study a vast array of subjects. This gives you knowledge of and proficiency in various areas.

I have had over 10 years experience teaching in the classroom.

This includes at-risk and students with special needs.

I began my career working with students with special needs. This required a lot of devotion and patience, as each student required instruction based on those individual needs. During this time I worked with students in grades kindergarten through first.

Later I moved to the traditional classroom and taught students between grades six and eight. During this time, I was primarily assigned to teaching the Language Arts. This included Spelling, English, Reading, Writing, and Penmanship. I am also extremely comfortable tutoring math through the pre-algebra level.

I have the experience and most importantly the patience to be effective with all your tutoring needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

During my tenure as a Chicago Public School Teacher, I was initially assigned to a Special Education classroom. I remained in that position for 6 years. I taught students with various disabilities including ADHD.

I have adapted many proven techniques to assist students with ADHD.

I was employed as a Chicago Public School teacher for over 10 years. I also taught at an advanced private school in Indianapolis, Indiana for an additional eighteen months. During that time, I worked with every grade level between K-8.
