Since 1999, I've been teaching music. While obtaining my master's degree, I taught undergraduates ear-training and sight-singing skills in college. I was also giving the opportunity to teach a computers in music and group guitar course. In 2002, I moved to San Diego and began teaching in various music studios to various ages of students. In 2010, I took the advise and help from a friend who teaches at an ESL school in downtown San Diego. I began tutoring students from Saudi Arabia in English. On occasion I help the ESL teacher with testing at the downtown school. I'm currently available most evening (except Fridays and Saturdays) for tutoring students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have completely read both the Old and New Testament. I have passed the qualifications to be baptized in my church, which include a complete understanding of the Bible.

Composition (Music)

I currently hold a Master of Music degree with an emphasis in composition performance from Emporia State University.

Drums

I have been teaching rudiments of percussion for six years to various students in music studios and in individual private lessons. I've prepared students for school band auditions.

Ear Training

I have taught group classes in Ear Training for four years.

General Music

I received an A+ in my basic music class in college. I then went on to receive my BA and MM in music.

Guitar

I have taught group guitar in college and individual guitar lessons in various music studios.

Macintosh

I have been a Mac user for twenty-eight years. As a graduate student at Emporia State University, I helped run a Mac lab. My duties consisted of: uploading, downloading, installing, and maintaining software. I own a PowerBook G4 and MacBook Pro 10.7.5.

Microsoft Windows

I have been a user of Microsoft Windows for 20 years. I began using Microsoft Windows in college for writing papers. I have owned a couple of desktops that used XP and Windows 98.

Songwriting

I have written numerous songs, music charts and lyrics that include: classical, pop, afro-Latin, jazz and R&B arrangements.

Spanish

I've had two years' worth of spanish studies at the university level. I've written a paper about the Spanish language in music of Latin America for a special class in college. For that class, I had to write out the lyrics and the translation. Living in southern California has given me the opportunity to read and speak in Spanish on a day to day basis. Currently, I am currently available for tutoring multiple times a week.
