I have taught students from kindergarten through high school. Whether it be in a school or an after school academy, I have done it.
There is something about tutoring students one-on-one that I find rewarding. I love helping my students. I love looking for new ways to help my students. It's the most amazing feeling in the world the moment my students "get it" and to know that I was a little part of it is very satisfying.
I have obtained my multiple subject teaching credential and am currently in the process of going back to school for my special education credential.
I'm very passionate about being an educator. I don't like to rest until I know I have done the best for my students. Trust me. I have taught students from kindergarten through high school. Whether it be in a school or an after school academy, I have done it.

We've contacted Jin to help raise my 9 year old's reading and writing skills. It's been nearly 2 months and so far things are looking favorable. After an initial meeting Jin has tailored the lessons to address my daughter's weakness, made the lessons interesting with didactic videos and other teaching tools, and challenged her with homework to reinforce her learning. Jin is always punctual, courteous, and affable with my daughter - who actually looks forward to her sessions with Jin. Overall we are hopeful that our daughter will improve her skills under Jin's guidance.
I just wanted to take a minute to let those of you who are looking for a tutor know that Jin is amazing! I have never had a tutor for my son before so she was very informative on her process, our first couple of sessions were gradual, just enough for her to get to know my son and get a feel for where he was at. He looks forward to his 'tutor time' with Jin every week, she is energetic and makes learning so much fun for him! She is great with children and obviously enjoys what she does. I highly recommend Jin for anyone who needs a tutor for their child, and wants to know that their children are in good hands. I look forward to her working with my son for many more sessions!
Jin has helped our 6 year tremendously. She has helped her build her confidence by assisting her to sound out words, learn sight words as well as blending including long and short vowels. Jin displays excellent teaching skills and is very patient. She makes every session a fun learning experience. Our child looks forward to their sessions together and has advanced greatly in their time together. We look forward to many more sessions!
Jin has been great with both my sons. She gives them the knowledge they need in a loving and yet very stern manner which is exactly what they need. I truly appreciate what Jin is doing for my sons and my peace of mind.
In the month Jin has tutor my daughter i notice her reading at a faster pace and comprehending what she reads. She is now reading at a higher level and finishing two books in a week, that would take her at least two week before to finish one. I'm very pleased with Jin and looking forward to see an improvement on my daughters next testing.
I just had a few lessons with Miss Jin and I can say is a very patient, kind and smart tutor, she helped a lot and took time to explained me the clearest way possible. I really recommend her as tutor specially in TOELF Test.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
It is important for students to have a strong foundation in kindergarten. The proper way to sound out letters will help them in their writing and reading. Sight words also play a key role in how students read. Repetition, although tedious sometimes, is key in helping students retain what they learn. Once they have mastered everything in kindergarten, they build on top of that knowledge in first grade, then second, third, and so forth. Not all students learn at the same pace and some students have difficulty grasping new concepts. I have worked with every level of students in the elementary grade. I personalize my lessons to meet the student's level and build from there. Scaffolding is so important for students. There are nine kinds of multiple intelligences and I'd like to help students see their strengths. Students learn best when they are confident and younger students tend to lose that confidence once they perceive a subject to be difficult, but I instill confidence back into students. As I tell my students, never give up, I also never give up. If one way doesn't work, I will always find a way suitable for the child to succeed.
A student first and foremost needs a place to call their "study area" and there should be enough room to spread out their papers and books. Keeping organized is also important. Having separate folders for each subject and sectioning them off with homework due back to the teacher and work being returned home. Jotting down future projects and exams helps the student organize his/ her time in completing the assignments and also provides enough time to be prepared for exams. Preparing for exams is just more than "memorizing" what's going to be on the exam, it's about understanding and having a solid comprehension of the subject.
I have taken all these steps in helping students to become more organized with their academics. I've found that good organizational skills save time and can also keep the students calm in which results in better study habits.
The problem with just "memorizing" information for tests is that students will forget the information after the test has been taken. I have helped students understand why something is the way it is. I have come up with strategies to help students comprehend the information rather than just simply have them memorize information. The methods help them retain what it is that they are learning.
