*** I now have the following days and times available: Tuesday 8:00 p.m., Friday 7:00 p.m , Saturday 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:00-2:30 p.m. & 6:30-9:00 p.m. I am willing to give late lessons to students who really need them. If you are in serious need of a lesson that begins at 9:30 or later, feel free to contact me and we can work it out!

I began tutoring as a way to gain experience for being a teacher. I soon found out that I prefer the one-on-one environment, and decided to build up private tutoring as my career. My other career goals are to become a professional child literacy tutor, writer, editor, and other work in the English language field. I also love useful math and science.

I have experience tutoring all ages. I will tutor at your home, school, or nearest public library. I am a good tutor because I understand the value of one on one, or small group learning, and I understand how to be patient and adaptive with different types of learners. I am extremely patient and will do whatever I can to help you solve a problem and do better. My experience as a tutor has shown me that everyone is capable of learning, and there is nothing wrong with not understanding something the way that others do. I love the challenge of figuring out the best way that one person understands a subject. I love tutoring because having a good education is the best expression of self-empowerment. I love that I can help people develop important skills and be confident in school, work, and life.

*** I now have the following days and times available again: Tuesday 8:00 p.m., Wednesday 6:15 p.m., Thursday 8:00 p.m., and Sunday 6:30-9:00 p.m. I am willing to give late lessons to students who really need them. If you are in serious need of a lesson that begins at 9:30 or later, feel free to contact me and we can work it out!

***Before tutoring can begin (or phone numbers can be exchanged), WyzAnt requires that students have a valid credit card or Paypal account on file. No charges will occur until after the lesson takes place and I enter the hours to be billed.
I AM UNABLE TO HOLD SPOTS FOR STUDENTS. The first person to agree to a certain time and day for a lesson and who has payment info on file is the person who will get that time and day. From the inquiries I receive every day, I reply to all of them as they come, so I am telling several people the times and days I have available. This means that certain times and days might not be available by the time you get back to me if someone else gets back to me quicker. Sometimes it may take a student 1 day to get back to me and agree to a time and day and another student will ask for that same time and day maybe 2 days later, but it will already be gone. I try very hard to accommodate requested times and days as much as I can. Thank you for reading this!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

In my years in elementary school, I was in the GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) program. I excelled in all subjects and even got an early start as a tutor being a reading buddy for kindergarteners! I have passed the certification tests for Elementary Math, Spelling, Vocabulary, Reading, Grammar, Writing, and Algebra 1.

ESL/ESOL

I have worked with many ESL students since I first began my college education. The students that I worked with have all been Spanish speakers, and of all different ages. My biggest strategy for helping students to improve their English skills involves having them speak, read, and write in English whenever possible. The less you speak in the language you already know, the better and quicker you will be at learning a foreign one. I do use current textbooks and learning worksheets with my students. I don't emphasize speaking over reading, writing, and listening as they are all equally important in language learning. I work with students who begin not being able to speak any English at all as well as students who already have some English skills.
