I graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Neuroscience, and I am currently in the process of applying to medical school. My course work includes biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics. I am very dedicated to the student, and will work with him/her to achieve success in his/her subject of choice. It is extremely important that the student feels comfortable with the tutor, and it is vital for a relaxed relationship to be developed in order to facilitate learning. As a tutor, I will work on understanding the student's background in the subject, identifying any potential weaknesses with the subject, working on setting an appropriate study schedule for the subject, and assigning extra homework as needed to gain a strong understanding. Being able to relate concepts to the general world and understanding the fundamentals is key to achieving academic success. I will work with the student to make sure he/she feels extremely comfortable with the subject.
Throughout college, I have worked as a tutor for over 400 hours with other undergraduate students in various courses such as General Chemistry, Biology, Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics. I have received a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Level-One Certificate) for my tutoring work. As stated by the CRLA, this affiliation with the CRLA assures future employers, educators, peers, colleagues, etc. that my experience as a tutor stems from a set-level of rigor and best-practices.
