I am a Registered Architect and LEED AP with over 37 years experience. I have taught at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena for 9 years, earning a distinguished teacher award. I have also taught at UCLA, Santa Monica College, USC,and often lecture about sustainability for professional development. I am a member of the US Green Building Council and serve as Regional Chair for Student and Green School Programs.
My experience with young professionals and students has been extensive , serving as advisor, mentor and professional recruiter for high school students, college students and young professionals. I also have a 14 year old son who has given me many opportunities to teach and advise his classmates on science, math, engineering and art.
I studied Civil Engineering at Columbia University. I did not complete the degree (missed six months) to take liberal arts courses needed to enroll in Master Program in Architecture. During most of my years in practice, I worked with Civil and Structural Engineers and to complete projects. I do not practice Civil Engineering but have gained a great deal of practical experience from hands on project solutions.
Most of my life has been spent drawing, sketching, painting and designing. My skills are diverse and I almost became an artist/ painter. My sketching ability has not been utilized much since the advent of computers, but I still sketch nature and design solutions. My printmaking and Art has been displayed in several galleries on the East Coast and California.
Marketing has been the major part of my business when I had a deign firm and while working for other companies. I have attended several marketing training seminars and learned from many professional marketing consultants. Almost every company i worked for required that each employee market during the course of their daily functions. I have participated in major marketing campaigns with teams to convince clients to select our team. There are many lessons learned to share about different types of marketing campaigns.
Project management is one of my strong skills and I have practiced it for more tha 37 years. I have great skills using MS Project because it is a very straightforward and user friendly program. I am currently using it every week with my major projects.
Microsoft Windows has been on my computer for the past 20 years and I have been using it practically every day. Windows is relatively easy to use and has many computer applications for general use.
My painting started in Junior High School in New York City where I won City-wide competitions several times . I continued painting briefly in High School but did not pick-it up again until my Junior Year in College at Columbia. My art work was selected top in the class and I received an A in the course. However, the top six paintings were stolen as school ended. I was flattered that some one liked the work enough to risk stealing it. I have painted periodically for thirty years and have held several individual and group exhibitions In Washington DC and Los Angeles. Painting and printmaking are my favorite subjects.
My public speaking experience includes many client presentation on Architecture, Real Estate Development, Design and Environmental Sustainability. I have lectured at colleges and universities, community colleges and high schools and K-9 schools. During my 30+ year career I have taken several public speaking courses and professional training seminars geared towards large audiences and conferences. Most recently, I presented at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held in Phoenix in May 2013.
My experience in Soccer started when I was quite young growing up in Europe. I played on our High School Varsity for 4 years and also as a semi-professional in the German American League in New York. At Columbia University as a Freshman I played Center Fullback on the first Columbia Freshman Team to go undefeated. Subsequently we were one of the top three teams in the Ivy League and participated in the NCAA playoffs in our senior year. I coached 15 year olds in the AYSO League in Maryland and Washington DC.
