I graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Sociology. I have taught students ranging from Pre-K to fifth grade. I have taken and passed the CBEST. I have taken and passed the CSET Multiple Subject. I have also taken and passed the RICA exam. I am pursuing my Master's of Arts in Teaching with a multiple subject credential at Biola University. I am also in the process of getting my Bilingual Authorization in Mandarin.
When I teach math, I encourage students to find the answers themselves by helping them through the thought process. I especially enjoy teaching Algebra I.
For reading, writing, grammar, and test prep, my goal is to teach the fundamental skills so that my students can succeed outside of my tutoring sessions.
I have been using Microsoft Office for over 10 years; in fact, I would say that I've been using general computers since elementary school. I am experienced in both Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007. In addition to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint, I also have experience using Quick Books. Prior to becoming a Sociology major, I was an accounting major and did bookkeeping as an administrative assistant to a CPA. In addition, I recently did the bookkeeping for the real estate company I worked for. My approach to teaching computers is to teach the task once and allow my student to be hands-on during the rest of the session.
