Hi, My name is Raymond F. and I just graduated from college at CSU Eastbay in Hayward, CA. I was a tutor at Merritt College and really enjoyed myself the time I worked there, however while I was attending Eastbay I thought it was wise to not work while I focused on my studies. Some of the best times I ever had was by helping someone in need, as a result of my expertise. I enjoy traveling, I love to play music, and I can tutor a multiple of subjects that ranges from Basic Math to Pre Calculus, Religion (Christianity Primarily), Geography and other physical sciences. Although I consider myself primarily an Algebra Tutor, it is time to expand my knowledge to other forms of my education.
Life in general could be stressful, especially in times like these, so it is important for any tutor to be patient with their clients. I have found, through working with other tutors, that impatience has always made their students feel uncomfortable. Like any problem, in order to change it, one must identify the cause of why a student is struggling, whether it is a disability, or a stressful situation in a classroom, or possibly an unsuccessful teacher. After the problem is identified, the student makes a valuable turn in his or her struggles, and heads into the right direction.
I am also a man of faith, I am very honest and upfront with my clients, if I do not think I can tutor them in something, or if I know for a fact I will struggle with something they are having a hard time dealing with, I will let them know ahead of time what my strengths are, and if I can tutor them in what they are having troubles with. I have heard stories of people getting tutored and they just came out even more confused. My overall job is to make sure that the confusion is gone, or the student is at least on the right track for success. In my knowledge, a little goes a long way, and just a little confidence in one aspect could change a student's entire school experience.
I remember how hard it was to get up at 6:30am and get a ride to school, and sit in a boring classroom with a teacher that was too strict. Students now need more guidance then strictness and I feel that I can be a wonderful experience working with, not only as a tutor, but as an individual who has learned from his mistakes and can hopefully encourage any of my clients on conquering their dreams in life.
