Hello Everyone,

My Name is Alex and I believe I am the proficient tutor for whatever specialty of mine you require!

I am currently enrolled at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA and am scheduled to have my associate's degree in fall 2013. I am a double major in History and Military History and a minor in music. Both are prospective master's degrees. As you can see, my knowledge and passion mostly lies within history, of which I have had the pleasure of teaching among my fellow peers at West Valley. I also possess a strong knowledge of language arts and writing, which has provided me with honor roll since high school, the Presidential Academic Award in 2010 and put me on the dean's list at West Valley College for notable Literary Writings as well as the 2013-2014 Scholarship at West Valley.

My primary experience was working as a music teacher for a company called Music at Home where I taught sight reading, song writing, guitar and voice. I had tremendous opportunity to teach all ages of all learning capabilities and styles.

I am a passionate and interactive tutor and I have never gotten a complaint. I promise that my main job is to teach the student to love the subject, and further understand it. My style of teaching is similar in every subject but the presentation method of teaching the individual subject will vary for the student's benefit.

I have read at a level of reading two years beyond my age group since I was 6, I have a personal collection of books and novels including Mark Twain, Sun Tzu and Ralph Waldo Emerson, and I made the Dean's List at West Valley College for my knowledge in literature.

Writing

Honor Roll, Presidential Academic Award, and I made the Dean's list at West Valley College all in part for great writing skills and literary works.

English

With my experience and knowledge in participating in political debates in speech and debate, my involvement in two political committees, receiving high grades and awards in every government class and working for the Secretary of State of California, not to mention my unmatched knowledge of political history, makes me more than certified for the teaching of Government and Politics.

Literature

I believe the following should certify me in Literature: My Honor Roll history, my education in being taught in literature for fifteen years, as well as teaching it at my college for two and my reward for making the Dean's List at West Valley College for Literary Writings and knowledge of books.

World History

SAT Reading

I have read at a level of reading two years beyond my age group since I was 6, I have been a tutor in reading and analyzing books through reading before, and I made the Dean's List at West Valley College for my knowledge in literature. On that basis, as well as my high SAT scores in reading and writing, I am qualified in both of the SAT test subjects.

Guitar

Guitar was my first instrument as well as my main instrument while I taught at Music at Home, which was a music teaching business in the comfort of your own home. I have played guitar for eight years and I have taught it for two. With my knowledge of the instrument, as well as pursuing my minor in music, I believe I am qualified to teach guitar.

Music History

I have always been proficient at both music and history. Both together is phenomenal. With me double majoring in history and minoring in music, as well as being in school and outside bands since I was twelve and taking a music history class in college, I am qualified for the subject of music history.

Sight Singing

My sight singing expertise comes from both my choir, band, and music theory background. In choir we had to read lyrics mixed with the music, and after combining the use of my voice as an instrument like in band and using music theory to read music, I have mastered sight singing. My experience teaching it was at West Valley College and through my previous tutoring job at Music at Home.

Study Skills

I have been educated in special study skills since I was in elementary school. I have also had experience teaching study skills at my old middle school Castillero. I know the different tricks and the proper way of memorization to be qualified in study skills. am currently enrolled at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA and am scheduled to have my associate's degree in fall 2013. Theatre

I have loved and performed in the theatre since I was in middle school. More recent is my experience in performing in three plays in high school and one independent play in college and having the opportunity to teach improvisation and stage management to students as part of an improv group.

Voice (Music)

Teaching voice was another one of my responsibilities as a music tutor through my job at the business: Music at Home. I have been in choirs and chorales since I was ten as well as the lead singer in my high school jazz band. I have also had the opportunity of teaching voice to students at West Valley College.

Religion

I am most proficient when it comes to religion. At my old church, the Center of Spiritual Living, I was educated in all the religions; especially Islam, Judaism and Christianity. I have taught people through my college about all of the parts of scripture from those religions named and have the verses memorized for reference at any time. I was awarded at my church for my firm understanding of religion which should make me certified in the subject.

Basketball

I have played basketball since I was twelve years old. My first experience was in the YMCA, and then I played at Castillero Middle School. I was played center every year because of my height and I know the positions, the tricks, the rules, and the qualified knowledge of basketball.

Chess

I have loved and played the game of chess since I was ten years old. I was a member of two chess clubs at Castillero Middle School and Center of Spiritual Living Church. I participated in five tournaments and won one and I have been taught in the technique of Josh Waitzkin and Bobby Fischer.

Poker

This has been my favorite game since I was a child. When I was ten I was taught it by my grandfather and then continued my education in school with it among friends. Since I have turned 21 I play it in casinos and my knowledge of the basic rules as well as the best strategies to play the game and win makes me certified in poker.

Songwriting

I have been experienced in writing songs for 8 years. I am self taught in the subject and in my job with Music at home I have prior experience tutoring it. This along side writing songs professionally for bands and movies makes me qualified for the subject of songwriting. I am a double major with a minor in music.

Bible Studies

I have been raised Christian since I was in preschool. My Father and my church have read word for word scripture that I repeat to others with great satisfaction and knowledge. I have taught others studies of the bible at my previous high school and libraries as a tutor. I believe my experience is qualified for bible studies.

Public Speaking

In public speaking I am more than qualified, confident, and knowledgeable on the subject. Since I was a young child I have aced every presentation I ever had. I have continued this experience by giving presentations in my English classes and speech and debate class in college. I am proficient in the English language which will make me an excellent teacher with any student struggling with speech.

Social Studies

Social Studies is my expertise. Like history, I have aced every test, project and test on the subject of social studies. I was awarded greatest project in the class when I was a freshman in high school. I have had the opportunity to grade and tutor students at my old middle school Castillero. With my knowledge and passion on the subject I should be more than qualified. I am currently enrolled at West Valley College with double major in history and military history and a minor in music.
