ACT Math
I have extensive tutoring expertise for the ACT math exam.
Algebra 1
I have extensive tutoring experience in all areas of mathematics. I have taught math at a local public middle and high school including algebra 1, geometry and algebra 2. I took the AP BC calculus exam as a high school senior.
C
I hold a BS degree in math from the University of Illinois at Chicago along with an MS EECS degree from the University of California at Berkeley. I also hold a certificate in computer science from Deanza community college.
The extensive C programming experience dates back to the late 1980s along with having taught CS at Deanza community college. In particular, I taught the entire 1 year beginning, intermediate and advaced C programming sequence. Topics at the advanced level include extensive use of pointers along with recursion. Books used included K&R C and John Perry's Advanced C programming.
C++
I have a BS in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a MS EECS from the University of California at Berkeley.
The C++ experience dates from the languages beginnings along with having taught the language at Deanza community college. Topics taught included object oriented design along with the Standard Template Library.
Chess
I was a competitive chess player in high school and have over 20 years of experience in the game.
Computer Programming
My extensive computer programming expertise includes teaching at Deanza community college the C, C++, Java, Fortran and Perl programming languages along with having worked on Unix/C at UC Berkeley in the mid 1980s. My areas of expertise include: application programming, systems programming and scienific computing.
Computer Science
I have a BS in math/physics from the University of Illinois and an MS EECS from the University of California at Berkeley. I have been a computer science instructor at Deanza community college for over 5 years and have over 20 years of computer science expertise.
Differential Equations
I hold a UC Berkeley MS degree in EECS and Math along with a University of Illinois BS degree in mathematics and physics.
The differential equations expertise includes BOTH ordinary differential equations including but not limited to those topics covered on the AP BC math exams and partial differential equations which are typically covered in an advanced differential equation course.
Discrete Math
I hold a BS in Math/Physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago along with an MS EECS from the University of California at Berkeley. I have extensive computer science expertise which includes having taught the subject at Deanza community college. The computer science expertise includes extensive use of discrete mathematics in algorithmic applications.
Electrical Engineering
I hold a BS degree in math from the University of Illinois at Chicago along with an MS in EECS degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
The electrical engineering expertise includes both analog and digital circuits along with the public utilities being transmission line calculations and transformer calculations.
Elementary Math
I have extensive tutoring expertise at the elementary level in mathematics which includes preparing students for middle school.
Fortran
My extensive Fortran experience dates back to the mid 1980s as a research assistant at the University of California at Berkeley, along with Fortran 90 expertise for scientific computing applications, along with parallel processing experience. My Fortran expertise includes a wide variety of scientific and engineering problems with a particular emphasis on computational physics.
Geometry
The extensive math tutoring experience includes teaching geometry at a local public charter school along with experience in individual instruction for all levels of mathematics.
Linear Algebra
I hold a BS in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago along with an MSEE and an MA in mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley.
I have made extensive use of Linear Algebra in my professional career.
I have expertise in all of the areas typically covered in a beginning and advanced linear algebra class being matrix analysis covering determinants, eigenvalues, eigenvectors and the Jordan canonical form.
I also have expertise in the applications of linear algebra to the area of finite element analysis and the solution of differential equations.
Linux
I have over 20 years of Unix/Linux systems administration and programming experience. The Linux experience dates from its beginnings. I also have worked with Unix at UC Berkeley.
MATLAB
I have over 20 years of scientific computing and mathematical programming experience, as well as MATLAB expertise that dates from its beginnings with applications to computational plasma physics, digital signal processing and image processing.
Perl
I have a UC Berkeley MS EECS degree and over 20 years of software engineering experience. My Perl experience dates from its beginnings along with having taught the language at Deanza community college. The Perl expertise is for a wide variety of applications including systems administration, programming and web development.
Physics
I have over 20 years of physics expertise with a BS degree from the University of Illinois along with an MS EECS from UC Berkeley. The professional physics expertise includes computational plasma physics. I have also been a TA in the UC Berkeley physics department.
Prealgebra
I have extensive mathematical tutoring expertise ranging from elementary math to advanced mathematics including linear algebra and differential equations.
I have extensive tutoring experience at both the middle and high school level along with having taught and tutored math and science at a local public middle and high charter school.
Precalculus
I have extensive tutoring and teaching experience in all levels of mathematics from the elementary level to the college level. I have taught math at a local public charter school and have extensive experience in tutoring precalculus.
Probability
I have extensive background in probability which includes the first year Stanford graduate sequence in probability and stochastic processes.
SSAT
I have extensive tutoring experience in all of the standardized exams for both high school (SSAT, HSPT) along with college exams such as SAT and AP exams. I am a graduate of a highly ranked public school having taken the SAT and many of the AP exams.
Statistics
I have over 20 years of statistical analysis expertise with a wide variety of scientific and engineering problems with extensive statistical programming experience. I have extensive tutoring experience in statistics.
UNIX
My UNIX expertise dates back to the 1980s as a graduate student at UC Berkeley. The UNIX expertise includes both the BSD and ATT versions of UNIX along with Linux. The UNIX systems administration experience includes both small and large sites. The UNIX programming experience includes the kernel, application programming and systems programming. I have also taught introduction to UNIX at Deanza Community College.
Web Design
I have over 20 years of web design expertise which dates from its beginnings with HTML before the days of CSS. The skills include both the front and back end, including HTML5, CSS, Javascript, PHP, ROR, Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress.
