I am a GREAT tutor and academic coach.
On the Graduate Record Exam ('GRE'), I earned a score on the 'Verbal' test of 770 out of a possible 800.
On the Scholastic Aptitude Test ('SAT'), my 'Verbal' score was 726.
I taught Special Education students in a street-tough elementary school, and was cited by the Chicago Board of Education for 'outstanding achievement' with these youngsters. In 19 weeks with me, this class advanced from 'no skills' to late second-grade reading level.
Among other tutoring and coaching work, I was General Director of the Orientation Program for incoming freshmen at Seattle University, and was appointed Pledge-Master for the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. I was co-founder of the 'Big Brothers' program in Seattle.
I served two years as a live-in Dormitory Moderator for campus-housed male students, helping them to maintain academic discipline and to succeed in their individual studies.
During grad school, I was elected Student Body President at New York University.
Since then, I have also tutored corporate executives in personal-computer skills and have taught email skills to seniors in both class settings and one-on-one.
My tutoring style is focused on building self-assurance and confidence within each person -- highlighting the achievements they have already made, showing an overview of where we are going, and helping them step across barriers -- while they develop self-recognized mastery of our material.
