My expertise is in history, research and writing essays.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I worked for two years as a substitute teacher at Valley Christian and the King's Academy. I extended my experience by working for two years in public districts --- the most recent of which is Santa Clara. In addition to this, I tutored in the fall and spring. I work best with high school students and have a fully accredited Bachelor of Science with a Major in History and another in Biblical Studies. My awards include the highest given to a graduating senior for "historical research and writing" and I was inducted into the nationally recognized "Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities."

I do my best working as an individual coach and tutor. We start by setting verifiable priorities and goals. This is followed by personally apprenticing the student in his or her areas of weakness. My goal is not to be a crutch, but to be a catalyst. If I can enable the student with the tools and habits he or she needs to succeed, I will accomplish what I set out to do.

Study Skills

While in College, I assisted other students in test preparation. As a tutor, I have actual experience correcting a student's disorganization. Depending upon the student, various remedies can be put into place. This includes designating storage space (i.e., always keeping materials in a drawer at home, or in the backpack). I have another major in Biblical Studies. It is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), and Association of Theological Schools (ATS). In addition to this, I won a competitive scholarship for Biblical knowledge (Lonie-Friesen).

Public Speaking

I took a course in public speaking, and have tutored in this arena.

Anthropology

While in college, I took a course in Cultural Anthropology based on an Oxford text. My course in World Religions also touched upon anthropological prinicples. Over the course of two semesters, I trained and provided oversight to other students assisting me in a survey of two universities. I have a fully-accredited Bachelor of Science in History (Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities). I graduated with a 3.84 GPA, and was awarded my university's sole scholarship for "historical research and writing."

I am enrolled in San Jose State's graduate program. I will obtain a teacher credential in Social Science by the end of 2013.
