I tutor for another very prestigious tutoring company that hires less than 2 percent of tutors who make it to their second-round interviews. I provide a high level of tutoring that is billed out through this company at a rate of $115-$140 per 55 minute session. If you purchase a package through Wyzant, you can receive the reduced rate of $102 per hour. Because it is important to me to provide high quality tutoring to students and families that cannot afford $102 per hour, I also offer further significant discounts for students and families that qualify. Please contact me for more information.
I am an English and writing tutor with a degree from U.C. Berkeley. I went through a formal tutor training program and specialize in students in junior high, high school, and college, but I also work with younger students and adults as well. I particularly enjoy tailoring my teaching style to suit each unique individual. My motto is "Whatever it takes!" If it's humor that's needed, we'll use humor. If it's strict discipline and accountability for assignments that's needed, we'll do that. Everyone learns and thrives in different ways and for different reasons. My aim is to find what makes you or your child tick and expand on those strengths to help achieve your goals.
Although I majored in English literature in my undergraduate studies, I can relate to those who struggle with reading and writing. In 8th grade I had a terrible English teacher and went on to high school completely unprepared. Fortunately, my 9th grade English teacher was amazing and changed my world. I started the year with the lowest grade in the class for the first paper. I ended the year with an A and a love of English literature. I have been incredibly privileged to have had a number of gifted teachers and tutors in my life, and I strive to give this same gift to others. I would be honored to help you or your child with any kind of reading or writing need. I also tutor other writing-based subjects, such as history. Additionally, I offer tutoring for study skills, test-taking strategies, and time management.
