I tutor math and science to high school students and to college students. I tutor Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, SAT Math Prep, general Chemistry and general Physics.
I work primarily in and around the Almaden area of San Jose.
I really enjoy my students and the time I spend with them. I tutor during the academic year and in summer. Math and science classes are challenging and the pace sometimes frustrates students and can leave them behind. Once behind, it’s pretty daunting to catch up without help. Tutoring is a good solution. Tutoring from the beginning of a class is a better option. The extra time with one to one instruction and help gives students freedom to explore and question, learn the material and become confident in it.
All students can benefit from tutoring. In the classroom setting, individual attention is limited. In the tutoring setting there are no distractions and few barriers. The reward for the tutor is hearing a happy student declare, “This isn’t that hard, I get it!” What may have seemed impossible isn’t that hard ... once you do get it!
I earned a BS in Chemistry with a minor in Physics, and have completed course work for a master’s degree in Natural Science. I hold a lifetime secondary credential in California. After graduating, I taught high school math, and coached sports. I left teaching to work in industry, mostly at IBM and HP.
