I have been in the public school system for over 16 years. Currently, I teach computer technology to 7th and 8th graders at Chaboya Middle School and have previously taught math and science. I am a board member of the Silicon Valley Computer Using Educators known as SVCUE whose mission is to share knowledge with other educators about integrating computers and technology to help improve teaching and learning.
Additionally, I was a math instructor for the Valdes Summer Math Institute from 1998 to 2006 and Harker Summer Academy from 2007 to present.
Content knowledge, conveying information in a age-appropriate manner, along with patience, understanding, and a sense of humor go a long way in establishing an appropriate student-teacher relationship and a suitable learning environment.
Before I became a public school educator, I made my livelihood in music - performing, studio work, and giving private lessons in guitar and bass. I came into the public school system by accident when I realized I enjoyed being in the classroom during a long term substitute assignment. I returned to school in 1994 to earn a teaching credential and have never looked back since.
