Hello everyone,

With passions for American History, Politics, and English, I'm been a Theater Teacher with experience at Cal State LA, Cal Poly Pomona and USC for over 20 years. I've also been Mom of twin boys with autism for 16 years, and a active volunteer with community groups for longer than I can remember. Working in the theater has allowed me to have a great deal of compassion for others, with my greatest strength being encouraging others to believe in their own innate abilities. I like to break subjects down to the smallest components, so that students can begin to understand completely the process of learning that works for them.

SAT Writing

You can be a good writer, but still find test-taking in this area stressful. We will work to give you some tools to get through this roadblock while completing your exam.

ASVAB

I understand test anxiety, and I am especially strong in assisting those who need help with the English and Math sections.

ACT Reading

I completely understand test anxiety especially when it comes to Math. A student can be a creative English, Social Studies or Arts person, and still have the patience and persistence to gain an understanding of something that doesn't come naturally. Don't be afraid! YOU CAN PASS THE TEST!

Elementary Math

Going to school I always excelled at English and Reading, but Math scared me until my Nana and Papa taught me to enjoy it. With setting up my own lemonade stand, cooking, measuring wood to build things, and playing board games; people that I loved made math real to me. Now I like to use some of these same techniques in my teaching.

Study Skills

As a former adjunct professor at the university level for 20 years, I've gained the knowledge of how to inspire and teach students to develop effective study skills for success with academics.

Theatre

Theatre has been a part of my life for many years, directing plays across the theatrical canon such as ROMEO AND JULIET, DEATH OF A SALESMAN, Brecht's ANTIGONE, and TO BE YOUNG, GIFTED AND BLACK. As an acting and writing coach, I enjoy bringing others' creativity to light.

Public Speaking

I enjoy coaching those entering the public speaking arena. I like to clarify and illuminate some key techniques to assist my clients in sharing their ideas in both informative and persuasive speeches. Through my experience teaching in the American Theatre for over twenty years I've helped many business, science, and others students from diverse backgrounds develop and improve their ability to speak and engage in public.

Autism

In 1997, I heard the words that parents really don't want to hear from a pediatrician, "I think your child is autistic". Diagnosed with mild/moderate autism, my twins boys are now 17 and our family is enjoying life. My husband and I learned how to teach our children from listening to other parents, teachers, aides, workshop leaders and coaches; and I combine that knowledge with my own professional ability to teach, to help students with their academic studies.
