I have always had a passion for teaching. My experience teaching started with being a gymnastics coach and swimming instructor when I was in high school. After my second year of college, I spent the summer as a teaching assistant in a high school. This continued every summer thereafter. I worked as a teaching assistant for middle school and high school Math, Biology, Chemistry and French. My role consisted of explaining concepts to the students, grading exams and preparing practice exams. I found teaching to be a very fulfilling job and learned a great deal about different learning styles and how to tailor information specific to the student that I was working with.
Outside of my teaching assistant job, I tutored students who were particularly struggling with the curriculum. Growing up with a brother who is 11 years younger than me, teaching has always been a part of my life. I have always helped him with his homework and prepared practice exams to help solidify his knowledge. Now, having recently moved to San Francisco to get my Master's in genetic counseling, I would love to continue helping students learn.
I see teaching/learning as something that is different for every student, so the more information that you can provide me on what you would like to learn, the more I can help and the more results you will see. I know that last minute things can come up, so I require a minimum 2 hour cancellation notice. More time would be greatly appreciated but you don't have to worry if you start to feel sick the morning before our lesson.
I know that learning isn't fun when you're struggling but I'll work as hard as I can to make sure that you understand the basics so that you will enjoy what you're learning.
I look forward to hearing from you and getting started!
