I am a recently graduated working photographer who just moved to the city and would love to teach the photographic process to any level--especially beginning and intermediate. I will create individualized assignments for each student based on their skill level, and give you personal attention to make sure you understand and master the skills you need to succeed. I can get you accustomed to a new camera--or your old one that you don't use enough--and work on mastering its tools. We will work on composition to develop your own eye, photographic theory to develop your own ideas about how you want to image the world, and make finished prints to show the world.
I have a background in screen-printing and alternative printing methods that are easy to do at home (Cyanotype and Van Dyke printing), ones that aren't so easy to do at home (photo-lithography, and photo-intaglio), large scale photo wheat-paste, and advertisement/label alteration and replacement, and can teach you any of these processes.
I can work with digital cameras of any kind, or 35mm and 120 film cameras.
I can also tutor post-production techniques to help you create finished photographic works.
These include: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw, Digital Printing (color correction and monitor calibration for ordering prints online or using your own photo-printer), Online Bookmaking (with an introduction to Adobe Indesign), Digital workflow for single and batch editing, Cutting and Matting, Hanging prints and print display, Black and White darkroom printing and developing, Home developing, Creating a home darkroom, Alternative printing methods that you can do at home (Cyanotype and Van Dyke printing), and Fine art or textile photo-based screen-printing using CMYK and Halftone.
