Over 2 years of tutoring experience, I have assisted students in the English language. I enjoy tutoring one-on-one and encourage students to use their strengths and learning styles in order to achieve well in English and Literature courses. I have tutored students from 1st grade through college; I strive to give them activities and lessons that are interactive, enjoyable, and stress-free. I want students to succeed in the areas of writing, reading, speaking and listening the English language.
I graduated from the University of Arizona in December 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. This intensive program of writing and literature courses pushed me to take risks in my writing and analyze at American and British literature in different ways. I have taken courses toward teacher certification in Secondary Education which helped me to be more flexible and creative in my tutoring methods. I have taken classes in Library Sciences and Disability Studies which helped me to be a better bibliophile and gain more knowledge in how to assist those with learning differences.
My students enjoy learning from me! They learn how to use technology in order to learn about grammar, improve their reading comprehension, and increase their vocabulary. Currently, I am tutoring an 8th grader who is preparing to enter high school. I am helping my student to prepare for the TOEFL exam--since English is his second language.
