An effective tutor is someone who can help to catapult your child's success in the classroom and create the confidence they need to continue to excel long after the tutoring session has ended. With over 10 years of experience in one-on-one tutoring, I have the skill-set to do just that!
I have worked with a variety of age levels (4-19 years old) and I tailor my methods to the individual needs of each student. My educational background has given me a vast knowledge of the sciences and math, but I am also an exceptional writer, too! I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 2010, so my STEM knowledge is relevant and fresh. The bulk of my tutoring experience was gained while attending Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Outside of private tutoring for a kindergarten-aged girl and middle-school-aged twin boys, I have also done volunteer work with the Atlanta Public School system as a general tutor for AVID students of all ages and also for my peers in college.
My preferred method of tutoring is a hands on approach where I guide students through challenging problems step-by-step, and then allow them to try to solve the same type of problems on their own (with me watching over, of course). Knowing that all students learn differently, I welcome the opportunity to be flexible and accommodating to the needs of your child to help them master and maintain their course learning.
