I am a life-long learner. I love learning new things and I love helping others learn as well. Regardless of the subject matter, my primary concern is helping the student understand why a specific answer is what it is, as well as what the answer is. I have a diverse background; my previous jobs include: CPA, financial analyst, stock broker, University administrator, executive director of a non-profit, and chaplain. I am currently finishing my PhD in theology and spend much of my time researching and writing.
As a mother of four (now grown) children, I understand the frustrations parents encounter when their child is struggling in school as well as the frustrations students encounter in the classroom. As a tutor, I try to understand and address the concerns of students as well as parents. As a student myself, I understand the challenges of meeting requirements of multiple courses simultaneously (Doesn't the teacher realize I have other classes?)!
I have worked with students from junior high school through graduate school. I particularly enjoy working with international students and have an excellent understanding of how English grammar differs from that of other languages.
I look forward to working with you!
