Hello,
My name is Cristina S., and I'm 26 years old. While living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I earned my bachelor's degree in Business, with a focus in tourism. I moved to the East Bay 5 years ago in order to continue my education. Since then, I've graduated from the ESL program at Las Positas College in Livermore, CA.
However, a lot of my language mastery has been acquired outside the classroom. I love speaking with natives and other language students because it's fun, challenging, and always improves my skills. I've found that taking this route led to compliments of my proficiency and clarity in the English and Spanish languages.
In fact, I even began teaching Spanish to children and teenagers I cared for in Castro Valley. Due to the fact that the Brazilian economy has recently improved, more and more people have shown interest in learning Portuguese. I'm excited to teach San Francisco my native language!
I realize that Portuguese and Spanish can be difficult languages to learn because of their many verb tenses and grammar structures. Luckily, I am calm, charismatic, and organized, so I'm equipped to help any person through the struggles of learning (or perfecting) either.
My lessons will utilize teaching methods I experienced while studying at Los Positas. These have proven to be very effective. Furthermore, I'll be assigning homework that includes 20 minutes of free writing. I find this very necessary, as it provides the opportunity for students to refine and improve grammatical knowledge and conversational skills.
I've had plenty of experience in the realm of language learning. I've spent a lot of time learning from great professors as well as from native speakers, in both English and Spanish.
With my success, I'm certain that these methods work, and I can't wait to help WyzAnt students conquer the English, Spanish, and Portuguese languages.
Sincerely,
Cristina S.
