I am a visual artist (drawing/painting) who graduated from the Lycée Français de New York. I speak, read and write fluent French, speaking it with a French accent. I also excel in English. I am someone who really enjoys relational work as I have excellent communication & relational skills. While I have experience working with children in the capacity of assistant art teacher, camp counseling multiple summers at a French camp, my own month-long art installation involving the participation of local neighborhood kids, as well as more recent after-school French teaching and museum education—I've only come to the realization that this is the work best suited for me over the last 8 years. In the past, I had thought mostly of "art-related work" such as graphics and art-handling, but over these last 8 years, have been evolving into doing more personal, communication-oriented work, and find that relational work is the most rewarding for me as well as being something I am very gifted at. Tutoring is an example of that work.
I know how to keep things fun for students while keeping an eye on learning and retention. I also am naturally adept at finding connections between things, helping a student get a larger picture of whatever topic is at hand. I am naturally warm, nurturing, patient, good-natured and sensitive to a student's needs. I've also studied compassionate communication as I am interested in peaceful ways to resolve conflict.
Whether it is English, French, Art or Handwriting, I look forward to making the best use of our time together and keeping it fun and interesting. I love the humanities, and would love to share this love with my students.
