Hi! I am a Cambridge CELTA-certified English teacher. I am experienced in tutoring and teaching adults, youth and children. As a teacher, I have three important priorities: to help students improve their English skills, build self-confidence, and enjoy learning. I care about my students' interests and that guides what and how we study. I believe that learning should be interesting and fun. I know that happy, engaged students make more progress. As I get to know a student's learning style and personality, I adjust my teaching style to find the best fit for each student. I offer the first 1 hour of tutoring free, so I can learn more about potential students and they can learn more about me.

As a professionally trained ESL teacher, I can tutor students in all aspects of the English language including speaking, grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening comprehension, writing and TOEFL test preparation. I teach SAT, ACT, CBEST and GED test preparation and I have subject descriptions for each of these. I also teach Spanish and I am the editor of a Spanish textbook and workbook series published by Internacional de espanol in Ecuador.

I am an experienced English Language Arts teacher and am familiar with the California State/Common Core Language Arts Standards. I have taught all aspects of English Language Arts, with a special emphasis on reading comprehension and academic and creative writing. I believe that all students should have the joy of understanding what they read and the satisfaction of expressing their ideas clearly and compellingly in writing.

I have a specialty in the area of Academic Intervention: supporting students to learn and achieve their educational goals by helping them to discover their preferred learning styles and effectively utilize learning strategies based on those learning styles. There is no one 'right way' to teach or learn, so I adapt my teaching as I get to know how each student learns best. I'm a flexible and creative tutor, and I enjoy solving the puzzle of how to find the most effective teaching methods for each student.

I have over 6 years of teaching experience with children, youth and adults. As a tutor, I am patient, friendly, responsible and dedicated to my students' educational progress and enjoyment of learning.

I graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University. I have lived, studied and traveled in Latin America and Asia.
