Music Tutoring- Piano, Music Theory, Improvisation & Sightreading

Hi! I'm Justin and thank you for visiting my Wyzant tutoring profile! I'm offering music lessons to anyone - from child, teenager, through adult - who is looking to further his/her music education in various fields.

I'm a pianist, with a Bachelor's in Piano Performance. I also have experience in Music Therapy, so I am able to make great connections and see what help you really need. However, I am not offering music therapy sessions, as that is something completely different. I am proficient in piano, organ, guitar, violin, and also have specialties in music theory, improvisation, sight reading, and sight singing. I enjoy music of all kinds including classical, folk, indie, jazz, gospel, and popular. I enjoy any ages but have the most experience working with kids and teenagers.

Ear Training

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Ithaca College. All of my Theory and Sightsinging courses, which included 4-6 semesters, had ear training in varying degrees of difficulty from notating stepwise motion to notating leaps, outside of the diatonic scale.

General Music

I have degrees in Piano Performance and Music Therapy. In my Piano Performance degree in took various courses including, Music Field Experience (observing music educators), Music Theory, Sightsinging, Music History (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th Century) Form and Analysis, Orchestration, Chamber Music. I also teach piano and play organ, guitar, violin, and sing.

Piano

I have a Bachelor's in Piano Performance from Ithaca College and have been playing piano for 20 years. I have studied most of the solo classical concert repertoire and have taken place in competitions while in college. I have given recitals and have studied piano pedagogy. I have taught kids ages 4-15 and have prepared them for semester recitals. I am familiar with most piano methods as well as the solo piano repertoire.

Sight Singing

I have a degree in Piano Performance from Ithaca College. While at Ithaca I had various Music Theory and Sight singing courses. Both courses required sight singing in various degrees of difficulty. I had to sight sing in various major and minor keys using solfege. I also had to conduct while sight singing in various time signatures.
