German: I have studied German for over eight years and lived in Austria for one year. I have completed postgraduate work in German Studies with a concentration on medieval German literature and have traveled to Germany three times for study abroad programs and research. I can speak, read, and write German with native fluency and am knowledgeable of German history and culture as well. I have one year of adult tutoring experience in basic German and one year of education experience in German culture and literature at the university level. I have written countless academic papers in the field of German Studies in both German and English. I have also proofread academic essays in both languages for a variety of publications. I would be glad to assist German students at any level!
English: I was raised in a household with a strong emphasis on reading and English grammar, spelling, and writing. In addition to normal university-level English coursework, I have also written and proofread countless academic essays and articles on a wide array of topics, always receiving positive reviews from instructors and peers. I also have one year of great experience teaching ESL in a foreign country (Austria.) I am qualified to tutor in English writing, reading or literature, or to proofread any level of writing.
ESL: I am a native English speaker with one year of experience teaching ESL abroad (in Austria.) I taught students between the ages of 12 and 19. I planned all lessons and gathered and created all materials by myself. The nature of the school where I taught meant that most topics discussed were relatively mature in nature - politics, social issues, technology, etc. - and entirely suitable for adult students. Of course, I am also experienced in teaching English basics (grammar, reading, writing) to both younger and older students.
Teaching Techniques: I am glad to cater to the needs of any individual student. I have taught using a variety of techniques - games, basic memorization and review, structured and unstructured sessions, discussion, high-level analytic practice (in both English and German), etc. Potential students need only communicate their personal preferences, and I will make every effort to provide them with the best possible learning experience to suit them personally.
